"lb allen Unfiltered"

My ultimate goal is to show up to the locales, events, experiences, people, challenges and joys of life without pretense.

The process of living is far more gratifying than any destination I have yet reached.  The wonder generated by the things that have unexpectedly come into my life have far surpassed the dreams and goals from which I was diverted.

I am compelled by questions without simple answers. I have been blessed with a rich life in the arts. I seek to continue to grow, stretch, and shed old skins as often as possible.

A professional theatre artist for over forty years, I have worked as actor, director, teacher, playwright and now musical theatre composer.  I served as Director of Theatre for the Buckley School, Conservatory Director for South Coast Repertory and Director of Education for the Sundance Institute theatre and film programs.  As an actor I performed in regional and small professional theatres around the country including Northlight Theatre and the National Jewish Theatre of Chicago, Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia, and the Egyptian Theatre, Park City, Utah. I was a founding acting ensemble member of the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.

I hold a BA in music and theatre performance from Case Western Reserve University and an MFA in playwriting from the University of New Orleans.
